A. Governance practices during floods

In the workshop about Governance practices during floods, organised by Henk Smit (Wing) and Jessica de Boer (Wing), the participants zoomed in on cross-border governance with the case study of last summer’s floods. Which governance practices were successful in dealing with these floods: which partnerships, which projects, which area-based processes, which platforms? How can we expand these successful practices for cross-border cooperation in dealing with floods? In the workshop, it was concluded that we need certain actions. Firstly, we need both the software and the hardware in governance practices, and the middleware to connect the two. Participants also discussed the value of practical training on disasters to improve cooperation. The importance of more inspirational talks and thematic live networking events on cooperation in the Meuse was emphasized. Interregional projects were identified as accelerator for joint interests and cross-border financing.
